Kwame Asante

Kwame has been writing about African dance music for ten years, mostly Afro House and adjacent scenes. He started in Accra, moved to Johannesburg for five years where the scene was at its peak, and now writes from Lagos. He has covered the producers and DJs who actually built the modern Afro House sound, has watched the international scene catch up to what was happening in Southern and West Africa, and writes with the perspective of someone who has been in the rooms where the music actually develops. The voice is conversational because the alternative is the corporate music-press tone that does not capture what makes the scene actually interesting.
